Starting Out Again
« on: May 30, 2016, 10:00:49 PM »
Hello All,

I just joined the forums to try to get some insight into the fishing world here in Tampa.

I spent a good chunk of my life up in Citrus County, so I knew the area a little better for fishing... but ever since I've moved out here to Tampa, I haven't gone in years.

The S/O and I just got our fishing licenses here so we could start going again. We have both freshwater and saltwater.

Any of you all have any recommendations for freshwater fishing for two land dwellers with no boat / canoe access?

We were thinking about visiting Lettuce Lake since it's close to us, but since we've not explored much, haven't happened upon many public access areas that wouldn't be overrun by people.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. If you would, let us know what you typically catch there and what bait is used.

Thanks so much!

Hey there!  You sound exactly like me a few months ago!  One quick question, would you and your S/O be opposed to wading around in the water sometime to fish?  I only ask because it could really open up your options, as it did me.  I moved here from up north and to be honest the thought of just walking around the flats was kinda intimidating at first.  But that all went away when I caught my first dinner lol.

I know I would be more apt to do so than he would. He loves being on the water and fishing, but is not a fan of being in it, lol. I'm up for anything.

Hah, that sounds very familiar.  The closest i've gotten my fiance to wade fishing so far is standing in the surf at clearwater beach, but that's an easy sell lol.  I've never been to Lettuce Lake so i'm sorry I can't help you there.  But welcome to the forum!
